Have you ever felt “STUCK”? Recently I was feeling like I could not make the next steps towards my goals. For so many reasons, I was crippled and did not know how to make myself snap out of it. Because I’m determined to continue to make consistent progress towards my goals, I had to figure out a way to get past this hurdle. Check out my tips for getting unstuck in this new podcast!
I’d love to hear some ways you’ve been able to motivate yourself out of a rut as well!
2018 is moving so fast! How are we in March already? It seems like just yesterday that I was getting ready for black friday sales and writing out my new year’s resolutions.
This seems to be the time of year that many people fall in to their old habits and forget about the goals and promises they made at the beginning of the year. If you are one of them, take heart because there is still time to get back on the horse and make 2018 a hit!
I have 3 tips to help you get back in the game and accomplish your goals!
1.) Be honest with yourself
Before any progress can be made, its important to sit down and figure out what has stopped you so far from completing your goals. Yes, we know that life happens and some things can literally stop you from achieving anything. But for many of us that is not the case. There was no life or death incident that made us eat that donut or hit the snooze button.
If we’re totally honest with ourselves we know that our daily habits have stopped us from making any traction on the things we said we would do. At one point social media and trying to keep up with too many shows was my culprit. I didn’t have the discipline to put off my guilty pleasures for the sake of completing my goals. This resulted in year after year of me feeling frustrated and hopeless. I had to really be honest with myself and take ownership for my lack of discipline. So ask yourself what you can do differently to give yourself a better chance to achieve your goals.
2.) Break your goals down
I know friends who said they wanted to go back to school, start a business and even write a book. When I followed back up with them, I realized that they hadn’t started making any progress because they didn’t know where to start! Their goals seemed so big that they just kept putting it in the “one day” box. “One day” i’ll get to it because it is to overwhelming to even try and achieve it. If you find yourself being overwhelmed with your goals then it likely needs to be broken down into smaller parts that can be easily tackled. Remember, the way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time!
If your goal this year is to start a business then research the necessary steps that you need to get you to open that business.. As you complete each of these smaller goals you’ll be surprised at how much progress you’ve made.
3.) Get Clear on your “Why”
In order for you to take your goal seriously, it has to be one that is important to you. Take some time and ask yourself why you chose your goal and why it is important to you.
If you chose to lose 15 lbs because you wanted to look like snatched come summer, then reminding yourself of this reason will give you the extra motivation you need to follow through on your goal.
This has always helped me whenever I felt like giving up. I would remember why I started and why the goal was so important to me in the first place.
I hope these tips are helpful in getting you back on track this year! If you’d like more information on how to knock your goals out, check out my goal getter guide here!
